Hi, I’m Lawson Lightwood — a journalist with many years of experience in live reporting, interviewing, social media content creation, podcasting, and more.
My journey into journalism began in childhood, fuelled by a passion for writing that has since allowed me to publish work for a wide audience to enjoy.
My first experience of using social media to showcase my passion was launching the page wba.watch, which gave me the pleasure of collaborating with several brands, including the American app Bunches.
The rise of audio content consumption led me to explore the world of podcasts, resulting in the creation of the 5 Added Minutes podcast, which I both present and produce.
University has given me valuable opportunities to report on live news events and build my portfolio.
Working for Forge Sport has allowed me to cover a range of live sporting events, including varsity boxing and the Men’s 1s football team.
As part of my course, I have been able to work as part of a team on live news days and publish articles on the student-led website ShefLive.
Outside of my course, I am a member of The Lower Tiers team, which provides daily news on the EFL. This role allows me to showcase my research, analysis, and writing skills freely to a large audience.
